Dylan’s Carmarthenshire – Fully Escorted Guided Tour
Today we head for the county of Carmarthenshire and in particular we head for Laugharne and and Dylan Thomas’s famous Boat House. During the journey you will be entertained by film and/or narrative of the great man and on arrival in Laugharne, we will visit the house where Dylan spent some of his happiest times.
The Boat House is in its original state and overflowing with memorabilia. Soak up the atmosphere, peer into the shed where he wrote some of his later work and then visit the local cemetery, with its single white cross where Dylan and Caitlin are buried. Some free time to stroll around Laugharne – perhaps visit the castle – before we move on.
Our journey continues through the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside where the people are rightly proud of their Dylan Thomas connection. We can visit the house at Fernhill, the farm at Pen y Coed and the villages of Llansteffan and Llanybri where Dylan spent many youthful summers and where he enjoyed more than the occasional “social evening” in his adult life.
Subject to the time available and your specific requirements, we could possibly include a visit to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales or perhaps even the market town of Llandeilo where Dylan failed his army medical?
- Please do not forget your cameras as each of our excursions offers wonderful photo opportunities and even potential film locations.
- Although our trips are influenced by Dylan Thomas, the day offers something for everyone.
- Lunch can be organised as an optional extra.
